Abstract

Many aspects of derivative-processing and risk modeling systems remain poorly integrated. In response to this gap, an architecture is developed that ingests real-time market data, cognitive and generative models, and neural decision engines to provide on-the-fly pricing, P&L, margining, credit risk, and VaR calculations. An extension determines the level of collateral to allocate against potential future exposure, optimally fulfilling both central clearing and regulatory liquidity mandates. Data controls ensure quality and trustworthiness, while risk-aware deployment provisions enable a seamless integration of cognitive technology into an existing ecosystem.

Rapidly changing markets and an increase in extreme events require more responsive risk processes. While artificial intelligence (AI) methods facilitate faster data preprocessing, cognitive technologies allow operational decisions to be made at the same time as bank risk changes. Yet, in many cases, and especially at a bank-wide level, these developments are not being exploited: pseudo-real-time market and credit risk numbers are still the norm. A cognitive AI framework that supports real-time processing of derivatives and associated risk metrics meets this need.
