Abstract

Digital service delivery in data centers has matured considerably over the past decade, yet customer experience (CX) outcomes remain, at best, average. Deep learning (DL) technologies now offer a path forward—enabling CX and business KPI improvements through customer segment personalization, meaningful service customization, and proactive service enablement. These capabilities promise more impactful and durable gains than earlier CX initiatives. This is not a trivial pursuit: a McKinsey report concludes that superior CX drives not only growth but also builds a lasting competitive moat around an organization. Related work in service experience management for cloud managed services illustrates how DL-driven mechanisms can span the full CX lifecycle—from onboarding and enablement through post-support and personalization.
Realizing these anticipated gains at scale is critical, since DL-enabled "happy path" implementations alone no longer move the needle on CX or associated business KPIs. Meaningful, scaled CX transformation has precedent in other industries: rail, aviation, and healthcare all offer instructive models. In sports science, data-driven analysis of running form has been shown to reduce injury risk while improving performance. In aviation, continuous altitude and velocity optimization—guided by air traffic control's fine adjustments to pressure differentials—reduces carbon footprint without any perceptible impact on the passenger experience. These examples demonstrate that proven, data-driven optimization at scale can deliver outsized benefits with minimal friction. It is time to apply this same principle to CX: activating a unified, scaled CX framework across Data Center Services (DCS) wherever applicable.
